中国驻悉尼总领事馆发言人今天发表谈话说，总部设在美国的“新唐人电视台”自称为公众媒体，实为“法轮功”邪教组织的宣传工具。希望澳大利亚民众，特别是广大华侨华人认清其本质，不要上当，不要被其利用，不要支持他们，不要参加他们的活动。

　　这位发言人说，“新唐人电视台”计划于明年一月十八日、十九日在纽约举办“首届华人新年晚会”并用卫星于二十一日向全球播放。为制作晚会节目，“新唐人电视台”的“志愿工作者”可能会“采访”一些澳洲华人和中国来澳游客。这些“志愿工作者”均是所谓“法轮功”成员。

　　发言人指出，“法轮功”是与日本“奥姆真理教”一样的、彻头彻尾的邪教组织，曾在中国害死一千七百多人，而现在仍在毒害一些不明真相的人们。“法轮功”打着气功健身和宣扬“真善忍”的幌子，以各种手法竭力掩盖其邪教真面目，不择手段地进行反华宣传和反华活动，玷污中国国家和人民的形象。

　　发言人表示，“新唐人电视台”借传播中国文化名义搞所谓“首届华人新年晚会”，其真正目的是进行邪教和反华宣传，是对中国文化和广大华侨华人的侮辱。希望大家认清其本质，不要上当。

Chinese Consulate General: NTDTV is a propagandistic mouthpiece of Falun Gong

Spokesperson of the Consulate General of People's Republic of China in Sydney said today that US based NTDTV was in fact a propagating mouthpiece of Falun Gong cult organization instead of a public medium as it claimed. In his statement, the spokesperson reminded Australian people, especially overseas Chinese living in Australia to be vigilant against Falun Gong Cult, alert not to be deceived or exploited by the cult, not to support them or take part in their activities.

According to the spokesperson, NTDTV planned to hold "the First Chinese New Year Gala" in New York on January 18 and 19, 2004 and would broadcast it globally on January 21, 2004. In producing the program, "volunteers" of NTDTV might "interview" some Australian Chinese and Chinese tourist in Australia. In fact, such "volunteers" are all Falun Gong members.
 
The spokesperson pointed out that Falun Gong was an arrant cult organization just like the Aum Shinri Kyo Cult. He said that it had caused more that 1700 deaths in China and was still poisoning people who didn't know the truth about Falun Gong. Under the camouflage of Qigong and "Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance" preaching, Falun Gong tried to covered its cult nature while did anything possible to have anti-Chinese propagation and conducted anti-Chinese activities in smearing the image of China and Chinese people.

The spokesperson commented that the real intention of NTDTV to hold "the First Chinese New Year Gala" in the name of spreading Chinese culture was to preach the cult and have anti-China propagation. By doing this, it in fact humiliated Chinese culture and overseas Chinese. The spokesperson finally reminded the public to be vigilant against Falun Gong Cult and be alert not to be deceived by the cult.
